Ship time on icebreakers and research ships operating in Arctic waters is limited and costly. In this context, sailboats and other small platforms are increasingly being used to carry out science projects in the Arctic. In this session, we invite presenters to share their experience and to present findings from marine science projects performed on sailboats and similar small platforms. Presentation of projects at any stage of completion and from any marine fields including oceanography, marine ecology, biodiversity, long-term monitoring and contaminants, are welcome. We hope to foster a constructive discussion on the many opportunities offered by small research platforms in the Arctic.
